Get Involved
Volunteering is a fantastic way to gain experience in the field, as well as give back to your community!
We offer volunteer opportunities through our education and outreach programs, as well as through our animal rescue and foster program.
These programs provide a chance for the community to engage with and gain a better understanding of often misunderstood reptiles and amphibians.
We believe these interactions are key to creating a community that is better adapted to co-existing with native reptiles and amphibians that are so important to our ecosystem.
We also believe these programs help families and individuals understand the needs of their reptile and amphibian pets.
Volunteer Opportunities
-
Outreach
Participating in outreach and fundraising events can encompass anything from animal handling to directing guests. These events often have many roles and require volunteers to operate independently.
-
Educate
Assisting our education programs consists of traveling to schools and other organizations to perform educational lectures and facilitate interactions between the public and our ambassador animals.
-
Foster
Dedicating your time to foster an animal is another way to volunteer. RACR provides all materials needed to care for each animal, with the exception of the animal’s food. We only ask fosters to provide food for the animal when the animal needs frequent food items that can go bad quickly (such as salads, for example).
The foster program is currently paused. We will reach out to members of the foster network waitlist when this program resumes.
-
Animal Care
Working alongside our team to provide cleaning, feeding, and medical care to our current rescues. Gain animal handling experience and knowledge of a wide range of species and their environmental and husbandry needs in captivity.
